The Ph.D. programme in biophysics is a Croatian national joint programme with similar contribution from Split and from Zagreb (in mentors and lecturers) and with important participation from foreign biophysicists. Our students will satisfy one of requirements for earning an European doctorate after training in foreign biophysical laboratories (a minimum three month research period).

I. University of Split, Faculty of Science (PMFST) is the main organizing institution for this PhD study: www.pmfst.hr
II. Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb (IRB) is the first collaborating institution: www.irb.hr/en/

Students from physical sciences and computer science students will be interested in applying their knowledge to biology, while students with biological and chemical background will be interested in physical instrumentation, structural bioinformatics, computational models and physical aspects of biology. Only close interaction between theory and experiments and knowledge transfer among disciplines can lead to fundamental advances in our understanding of the physical basis of life. The programme scope includes strong theoretical training by lecturers from Split, from Zagreb and from abroad, and laboratory rotations at the Ruđer Bošković Institute at Zagreb, Croatia. The programme will train students to perform creative research at the interface of theory and experiment and at the interface of physics and biology & biomedicine.
